Waking Autumn

Waking Autumn

This painting is based on a little piece of woodland nestled on top of Wychbury hill in Stourbridge. My aim was to paint sunlight bursting through the trees and illuminating the autumn colours glowing in the foliage, and on the ground. I spent a lot of time lying amongst the scrub and leaf debris on the forest floor taking photos for this piece, trying to capture the intense colours of the leaves when they are lit-up by the sunlight.
